Once scrubbed for loose flaky paint, and washed with the jet of the regular dock hose, it might need a touch of hand sanding to feather rough edges of solid paint. But usually it'll air dry in 30 minutes as you just roll on the paint. Mind the beautifully straight taped waterline......which should actually be an inch above the actual water level unburdened at the dock.
