Work Done Bomader x3 ..June 2003. BOMS The Boms are old but perform well. They take out a lot of club members. To replace them is very costly. Like trading in 3 for 1. So this spring they have new Centerboards being made. New Gaskets there as well. The damage to the gunwales has been glassed. The bashed in side and broken ribs have been rebuilt, a nick in the bow of another has been glassed. So when you use them give a nod to the work of the members who helped in the rebuild.
Work Done Lasers..June 2003. LASER Work Done Hobies..June 2003. HOBIE Ken C Work Done Aquavit Yearly Paint Job - May 14 2002 - For those who watch the speed of the craft, I am in the process of installing a KNOTMETER, with a readout to be under the Compass. For those who tred shallow water, I am researching the DEPTH SOUNDER. There is an old "TRANSDUCER" ( which is the signal send/receive unit) already installed in the bow area. However this is an old style. The first
approach is to find a compatable circuit/readout to match the frequency. It may be too old to match up..YEP TOO OLD... JUNE 3- Eagle Fish Finder @ 198.oo. will be tested and fitted to the area around the compass, the Knot meter will be grouped there too. Ken Christie
Fri, 26 Apr 2002 05:29:24 -0000 discoverysailingclub@yahoogroups.com I cleaned the decks of Aquavit and aired out the cushions on Thursday. I bought a nice deck brush for the boat from Steveston Marine. The brush and TSP can be found in the cockpit locker but the brush handle is inside the cabin beside the paddle. |

Fees For Aquavit Tue, 28 Aug 2001 01:46:58 Hello fellow Aquavit sailors, Just got back from a wonderful 4 day cruise up the Sunshine Coast to Jedediah Iland, Thormanby, Smugglers Cove and a final night at Plumper Cove on Keats Island. Not much wind but the boat and motor performed flawlessly and my son and I enjoyed a very happy time together. On arriving home I had a message from Anthea Hewitt, DSC Treasurer, to let me know she so far has received no user fees from us Aquavit users. I promised I would lead the way by paying up. I will be sending my cheque to: Anthea Hewitt, 4166 Doncaster Way, Vancouver, BC V6S 1V9 I encourage you all to do likewise. Just a reminder... 40.oo/day 20.oo/ half day/evening divided at 3 pm. TASER UPDATE Tue, 11 Sep 2001 23:02:28 -0700 The refurbished Tasar is a fantastic boat and well worth learning to sail! However, the Tasar mainsail has had to be replaced with the spare sail because several batten pockets were torn. The damage to the batten pockets is on the luff and seems to be caused by battens slipping out of the plastic fittings on the ends of the pockets . There are a few things we can do to prevent future problems... 1. Be careful when hoisting the main, to make sure the batten pockets are not "stressed" as the luff of the sail enters the track on the mast. Same when lowering the sail. 2. Loosen the laces on leach end of the batten pockets before stowing the sail, so that they are not stored under tension. (This means remembering to tighten the laces when rigging the boat. 3. Make sure the battens are parallel to the mast when the sail is rolled around the boom for storage. The new sail now on the boom is in excellent shape. Let's keep it that way! Andy Vine |
