Info on Migraine Headaches and Allergies

The following links are helpful in sharing information which allows you to avoid this superpain of a headache. Many of the foods and additives offered today will trigger a migraine attack or an allergy attack the next day. That is right!! It can happen 9 to 12 hours after the food was consumed or the substance inhaled.

Most people and the drug companies talk as if the headache comes on right after the trigger. They do not think of it affecting you much later. The medication route is offered as the solution. They would rather sell you more and keep you buying the foods that make you ill. Try a few months without that particular food to see if you get better.

There are many products with coloring ( annatto )/ flavourings ( artificial vanilla) / preservatives or tannins which fill the shelves of your supermarket yet can make you ill a day later.

I hope the following articles will help you avoid the reactions. The pages are "mirrored" on my site, but link to the original.

Migraine Triggers you can avoid For instance: A natural YELLOW FOOD COLOR comes from the seed of the Annatto Plant (Lipstick Tree). Safeway has it in much of their ice cream. It is in some American Yellow Cheese and some yellow baked goods. It is listed as a safe additive but gives some people a debilitating 20 hour headache 9 hours after eating. Called a "natural coloring" it is being promoted.

Allergies are more than that A health food site that has some good ideas.

Tannins are triggers and in many products. Some people are sensitive to all of them. And some to only a few types, or in quantity. Again the symptoms of the headache or allergy may not show up for 10 or so hours.

Osteoporosis : Omega 3 vs Omega 6 .

Osteoporosis A deficiency in essential fatty acids (including GLA and EPA, an omega-3 fatty acid) can lead to severe bone loss and osteoporosis. Studies have shown that supplements of GLA and EPA help maintain or increase bone mass. Essential fatty acids may also enhance calcium absorption, increase calcium deposits in bones, diminish calcium loss in urine, improve bone strength, and enhance bone growth, all of which may contribute to improved bone mass

My joints hurt Foods to Avoid - avoid foods from the nightshade family and all milk products. The nightshade plant family consists of white potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, tobacco, and all peppers except black pepper. Also cut back on oil-containing products such as salad dressings, fried foods, and margarine's. These foods contain high levels of omega-6 fatty acids, which have been proven to cause inflammation in those with rheumatoid arthritis.

omega-6

In fact, North American and Israeli diets tend to have too much omega-6, particularly in relation to omega-3 fatty acids. This imbalance contributes to long-term diseases such as heart disease, cancer, asthma, arthritis, and depression. For optimum health and disease prevention, the balance should consist of one to four times more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3 fatty acids. A typical American diet, however, tends to contain 11 to 30 times more omega-6 than omega-3 fatty acids.
